Hot Flaming Oil Test Device / Hot Flaming Oil Flammability Test Chamber – IEC 60950 Annex A.3
The Hot Flaming Oil Test Device is a test system designed to evaluate the fire risk of oil-filled sections in electronic equipment. This test is applied to determine the ignition potential and fire hazard of components containing oil at specific temperatures.
This test device is used in compliance with IEC 60950 Annex A.3 to examine the flammability of components present in hot oil. Liquids such as insulating and transformer oils, which are exposed to high temperatures in electrical equipment, are thoroughly evaluated using this test.
Main Features
- Wide Temperature Range: Precise temperature control between 100°C and 400°C.
- High-Sensitivity Sensors: Accurately measures oil temperature and ignition thresholds.
- Fireproof Test Chamber: Designed with special fire-resistant materials to ensure test safety.
- Standards Compliance: Fully compliant with IEC 60950 Annex A.3.
- User-Friendly Interface: Touchscreen control with programmable test duration.
Technical Specifications
- Test Chamber Size: 50x50x50 cm or custom dimensions upon request.
- Maximum Temperature: 400°C.
- Temperature Control Accuracy: ±1°C.
- Sensor Type: Thermocouple Type T, K.

The procedure follows the hot flaming oil test described in IEC 60950-1, Annex A.3.2.
Standard reference
The hot flaming-oil test follows IEC 60950-1 Annex A.3.2 (now carried into IEC 62368-1): burning oil is dropped onto the specimen to verify that materials beneath an oil-containing component do not propagate fire. The drop arrangement and quantity follow the annex.
