Specialty

PV Module Static Mechanical Load Test System (IEC 61215-2, MQT 16).

IEC 61215
Industries Served

Uniform static load testing of photovoltaic modules to IEC 61215-2 (MQT 16) for wind and snow loads.

Standard / methodIEC 61215-2 (MQT 16) static mechanical load
Base load≥ 2400 Pa
Optional loadup to 5400 (snow) Pa
SequenceFront + back, 1 h hold per direction
Load applicationMulti-point push-pull, closed-loop
SafetyOver-load / over-travel cut-out, e-stop

The PV Module Static Mechanical Load Test System performs the static mechanical load test of IEC 61215-2 (MQT 16). A uniform load is applied in turn to the front and back of a mounted module and held for one hour, reproducing the wind and snow loads a module sees in the field. The base test load is at least 2400 Pa, with a higher load (up to 5400 Pa) used where heavier snow loading is declared.

The load is applied by a multi-point push-pull arrangement and held under closed-loop regulation, with the load recorded against time so the hold and the cycle sequence are documented. Over-load and over-displacement cut-outs, an emergency stop and guarding keep the test safe; optional module-deflection measurement can be added.

ULMEKA designs and manufactures this system. The frame size, load range and fixturing are built to the module and the applicable standard; the exact configuration is defined during the quotation stage.
