IEC 60884-1 Temperature Rise Test Apparatus
The Temperature Rise Test Apparatus evaluates plugs and socket-outlets for household and similar use against the temperature-rise requirements of IEC/EN 60884-1, Clause 19. The test confirms that, when carrying their rated current, the terminals and accessible parts of the accessory do not exceed the temperature rise permitted by the standard, so the product remains safe in normal use.
The specimen is loaded at rated current until thermal equilibrium is reached, while the temperature rise of the terminals is measured (typically by thermocouples). The apparatus provides the controlled current supply, connection arrangement and measurement points needed to perform the Clause 19 test repeatably.
