Lateral Force Test Device.
Lateral (sideways) loading of plugs in socket-outlets per IEC 60884-1
The Lateral Force Test Device applies a sideways (lateral) force to a plug inserted in a socket-outlet to verify, per IEC 60884-1, that the contacts and housing withstand off-axis loading without damage or loss of contact.
A 5 N weight is applied and the specimen is indexed in 90° steps through a full 360°. ULMEKA designs and manufactures the device; fixtures and loading are configured to the samples on request.

The lateral-force test of IEC/EN 60884-1 applies a defined sideways force to a plug inserted in a socket-outlet to confirm that the engaged pins and contacts maintain reliable connection and that the accessory is mechanically adequate.
