IEC 61215
Solar Panel Bending Test Device (IEC 61215-2, MQT 22).
Bending (flex) test for flexible photovoltaic modules to IEC 61215-2 (MQT 22), with live electrical-continuity monitoring.
The Solar Panel Bending Test Device performs the bending (flex) test defined in IEC 61215-2 (MQT 22) for flexible photovoltaic modules. A flexible module is wrapped onto a drum and wound through repeated bending cycles, reproducing the mechanical flexing a module experiences during handling, transport and service on curved or non-rigid surfaces.
Throughout the cycles an adjustable constant-current DC source drives a small current through the module and continuously monitors electrical continuity. If a cell interconnect or conductor cracks and the current is interrupted, the device raises an audible and visual alarm and records the cycle at which the break occurred — so the failure point is captured rather than just the pass/fail outcome.
The drum is 1000 mm in diameter and at least 1200 mm wide, with a smooth, suitably coated surface, and the wind/unwind sequence is adjustable around the 25-cycle test. Test parameters are set digitally and the device runs the sequence automatically.
ULMEKA designs and manufactures this device. The drum geometry, fixturing and continuity-monitoring range are built to the module and the applicable standard; the exact configuration is defined during the quotation stage.
