Solar Panel Climatic Conditioning Test Device

Solar panels must maintain their durability and performance when exposed to various environmental conditions. The Solar Panel Climatic Conditioning Test is conducted to evaluate the panels’ resistance to temperature, humidity, and other climatic effects. This test is based on the IEC 61215-2 standard and is critical to ensuring the long-term performance of solar panels.

The IEC 61215-2 standard serves as an international guideline for testing the quality and reliability of solar panels. Its primary objective is to define a series of test procedures that simulate the environmental and mechanical challenges panels will face in real-world usage conditions.


Test Scope

The climatic conditioning test includes the following key elements:

1. Thermal Cycling Test

  • Panels are subjected to a series of temperature cycles ranging from -40°C to +85°C to evaluate their resistance to extreme temperature changes.
  • During each cycle, the temperature reaches specified limits and is held constant for a certain period.
  • Micro-cracks, connection failures, and mechanical deformations that may occur in the module are analyzed during the test.

2. Damp Heat Test

  • Panels are kept at 85% relative humidity and 85°C for 1000 hours.
  • This process evaluates the potential penetration of moisture into the module’s internal structure and its impact on electrical performance.
  • Corrosion or lamination failures caused by moisture are examined.

3. UV Test

  • Panels are exposed to intense UV radiation for a specific duration.
  • The effects of UV rays on the module’s surface material and internal structure are observed, with a focus on yellowing, cracking, and coating degradation.

4. Humidity Freeze Test

  • Panels are maintained under high humidity conditions for a specified period and then rapidly frozen, exposing them to temperature stress.
  • This test measures the panels’ durability against moisture and sudden temperature changes.
