The Needle Flame Test Device is a test method used to evaluate the fire resistance of electrical equipment and materials. This test is conducted based on the IEC 60695-2-2 standard to simulate the effects of small flames that may arise from fault conditions.

Application Areas:

  • Electrical Equipment: Ensures the safety of products such as lighting equipment, low-voltage household appliances, and electronic devices.
  • Insulation Materials: Evaluates the combustion properties of insulation materials.

Key Features:

  • Flame Height: Adjustable to 12 ± 1 mm.
  • Flame Duration: Adjustable between 0 ~ 999.9 seconds, with automatic recording available.
  • Angle Adjustment: Adjustable between 0 ~ 45°.
  • Gas Source: Operates with butane or propane gas.

The Needle Flame Test Device uses a needle-shaped burner with a specific size (Φ0.9 mm) and operates with a specified gas (butane or propane).

Applicable Standards:

  • IEC 60695-2-2: Covers test methods used to evaluate the fire resistance of electrical equipment.
  • IEC 60695-11-5: Defines needle flame test methods and requirements.

These standards are critical for ensuring the safety of electrical and electronic devices.

At ULMEKA Mekatronik LTD. ŞTİ., we specially design and manufacture Needle Flame Test Devices and other IP test devices for you.

Standard reference

The needle-flame test is specified in IEC 60695-11-5: a small defined flame (representing the effect of a small flame from a fault) is applied to the specimen for a set time to assess whether parts ignite and how flame and burning particles propagate. The device provides the standardised needle-flame burner and timing.
