Overview

Household and similar electrical appliances are assessed for safety against the IEC/EN 60335 family of standards — the general requirements of IEC/EN 60335-1 together with the particular Part 2 standards for each appliance type. This equipment covers the physical tests and fixtures that family calls for.

What This Testing Covers

It covers the heating (temperature-rise) test corner of IEC/EN 60335-1 Clause 11, the test probes and access fingers used to verify protection against contact with live or moving parts (IEC 61032 / IEC 60529), and the related fixtures applied across the Part 2 particular standards for ovens, cooking appliances, microwave ovens and similar products.

Related Standards

The general standard IEC/EN 60335-1 sets the common test methods, and the Part 2 particular standards (for example IEC/EN 60335-2-6, 60335-2-9 and 60335-2-25) build on them; IEC 61032 defines the standard test probes. The North American UL/CSA 60335-1 adopts the same approach.
