IPX3 and IPX4 Spray Nozzles
The IPX3 and IPX4 spray nozzles are used in tests that measure the water resistance of electronic devices. These tests are typically performed according to the IEC 60529 standard. They evaluate the device’s protection against water and its potential water permeability.
IPX3 Test (Spray Nozzle):
- Water Spray Angle: Typically between 90° and 60°.
- Purpose: Tests the device’s resistance to water spraying at these angles.
IPX4 Test (Spray Nozzle):
- Water Spray Angle: The device is tested for protection against water splashes from all directions.
- Purpose: Determines the device’s level of protection against water splashing from any direction.
Spray Nozzle Specifications:
- Nozzle Diameter: Typically 102 mm.
- Number of Holes: 121 holes, each with a diameter of 0.5 mm.
- Water Flow Rate: 10 L/min ± 5%.
- Pressure: Adjustable between 50 – 150 kPa (manual or electronic control).
Applications:
- Electronic Devices
- Electrical Panels
- Automotive Components
- Outdoor Lighting Systems
Relevant Standards:
- IEC 60529
- IEC 60598-1
- EN 60335-1
- UL50 and UL50E
